1-800- Gotta Have It

Had lunch with my friend Melissa who owns Sweet Home Quilt Shop in Conyers,we were talking about this amazing little light! (it was also a discussion at Crow meeting).. Well I absolutely love the thing! Melissa just got a shipment in, which was her second one, and she said the things are flyin out the door. The new shipment models have a push button on the side that turns the light on VERY COOL. They even sell an adapter sew you can move the light from machine to machine. How cool is that? The light is so great you can preform brain surgery with this little baby. whooooo hooooo I love my toys.I'm tellin you if you don't have one now....YOU WILL! (ok don't all stampede to call the shop)

I'm so excited I am going to go to Marietta with my friend Rosalyn. She wants me to help her pick some fabrics for a new quilt. We are both working on secret surprise gift quilts as well. Now! here is my problem. I haven't seen the inside of a quilt shop in two months due to my recent surgery. This spells economic trouble. I went nuts yesterday at Sweet Home.....and now I'm going to Little Quilts and Tiny Stitches.... OH MY! Well I guess I can look at this as a contribution toward the economic well being of our country right???? Patriotic...my civic duty....I'll wear red, white and blue! That's it! I feel so much better now. (judging from the damage I did at Sweet Home I better call Mary Ellen at Little Quilts and Maetha at Tiny Stitches and have them add an extra staff worker tomorrow!)

I'm sewww going to spend the day in my sewing room and work on my newest design. I have the whole day ahead without interuptions (I hope) so here I go! Oh a little sneak teaser....the name of my newest pattern will be Pinwheel Parade (I think) .... I love the design and can't wait for everyone to see it and give me some feedback. Here I go!

FRIENDS ARE THE SUNSHINE OF LIFE
- John Hay

Why are there crows in the picture?? Well yesterday I spent my day with my sewing group "The Crows". They are the prolific quilters and very talented women. They are strong willed people who could run the universe FOR SURE!!! When a "Crow" is in trouble is group comes to the aid at the speed of light. I know this how??? They have lifted me up and kept me going through some rough surgery (and other life experiences)

I would love to describe what it is like to be in a quilt shop with 12-15 crows. Rather like standing in the middle of a sunami. You have NEVER seen so many bolts of fabric fly off the shelves and fabric chipped off the bolt. Fat quarters....oh heck.. these byrds by fabric in VOLUME they buy fabric by the bolt just so no one else will get it, and if one crow screams you gotta see this...well honey that bolt is Toast, everyone has to have some. We have even been know to have fabric drops brought to our meetings and retreats from local shops just because the shop owners know one call from the crows in need of fabric could be a worth while venture!!! Think of fabric as "crow food"...

Then there are the trades.....OH MY.......We plan quilts and trade blocks, fabrics, strips...etc etc etc. We have been known to have 3 or 4 trades planned at one time. YES SIR...ITS A FULL TIME JOB BEING A CROW Oh! did I mention that a group of crows is called a "MURDER" Believe me you will want to murder someone when you are up all night making blocks for a trade due the next morning............. I'm sure I will have MANY funny crow stories in the future. CAW CAW HERES TO YOU MY CROW SISTAHS!

One of the kids...Strawberry Pie....Such a versitile quilt. I have seen this quilt made in "Line specific" fabrics and it blows me away... or just scrappy. I heard the other day that the quilt is made in black and whites at Heritage Quilt Shop in Newnan Georgia. My friend Kristie made in with applique' childrens fabrics and animals. Some of the Strawberry Pie sister quilts are being added to my web site.
Well I spent all day today in the office getting ready to work full steam ahead. I have not been up to sitting and writing in the past couple of months BUT I'M READY NOW!
On a personal note I started working out at the gym...zowwwiee....It was actually like having an out of body experience. While I was swimming wondering if it was really me kicking my way across the pool (this is not what I usually do at 8a.m)...that is a miracle in itself! I've never been a dedicated gym person but I'm giving it a try now!
I'm going to get to the studio tomorrow and prepare for production up there! I have several new designs to develop and I am anxious to get to work on them... I'm thinking of working on a block of the month program to debut at Fall Market... hummmm

What a Weekend

I've been busy with my club program at Stitch N' Quilt...Wheeww fun was had by all and it was so good to be back in the groove with everyone. Beginning to feel normal! I brought my civil war "Peace in the Valley" quilt to show and everyone really loved it. OK so now the pressure is really on to get a pic of it for my blog. RIGHT??

Here is a photo of my Pickets and Posies table runner. I loved making the YO-Yo flowers and working with the rick rack. !! The runner is being taught at Little Quilts and Mary Ellen is making the cutest kits from this pattern...

There were some raffle quilts in tourquoise for ovarian cancer at the shop which were stunning. Have you noticed that every cause has a color associated with it?? I decided that I would get a color addopted for knee replacement surgery...the color is BRUISED. (purple, green, black and yellow)... I could design a quilt with that in mind!!!

I am going to post pictures of my kids (no not my biological children) MY QUILT DESIGNS! I will also post some of my favorite sewing goodies. This is an effort to get my blogging and posting skill up to speed! Will post tomorrow!

LIFE IS A GIFT...UNTIE THE RIBBONS

OK so here it is...my new blog! Well not so new...this blog was actually ready for launch two months ago but I delayed it due to my knee replacement surgery. Who wants to hear about that..!@#$%^&*()_... The idea of the blog came a fall Quilt Market in Houston when my friend Kathy Schmitz and I were trying to decided when we would get into the world of blogging... Well here I am! waving to you Kathy. Check her out she is a very talented designer and super nice person! www.kathyschmitz.com

I just returned from a quilt retreat that I hosted for my club members and friends. The retreat was a SEW YOUR BRAINS OUT retreat. A good time was had by all, we relaxed and laughed and completed tons of projects. I worked on a new design which is still under wraps right now and I finished a Civil War fabric version of my Peace in the Valley pattern. WOW IS IT STUNNING... I'm so pleased with it. I will take a picture and post it ASAP.. (see something else I have to figure out!) Be patient with me as I navigate the ins and outs of blogging.

I hope you enjoy my blog (I hope someone is reading this) I usually have plenty going on to blog about!! I will post often as I get started and let you know the days I will FOR SURE UPDATE THE BLOG. Stay tuned.........I love my life!
