Dreams are illustrations....from the book your soul is writing about you.
-Marsha Norman
So much has happen in the past week it is almost worth describing in chapters rather than a few words. First and foremost the rain and flooding in Atlanta. It has been on all the news and bloggers in the Atlanta area have described the horrible loss of life and property so well. The thing is...Atlanta is not a city prone to flooding. Yes we have creeks that spill over their banks during heavy rains and that usually makes the local news but THIS...is mind blowing. We have had a couple of dry days but there is heavy rain in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow. Keep our city in your prayers.

Last Saturday I had the honor to do a quilt lecture and workshop for the lovely ladies of the Lavender Mountain Guild in Rome Georgia (dang....I wish it had been Rome Italy) We had a ball. They welcomed me with this wonderful sign sitting next to a plate full of Hugs and Kisses....We laughed and worked very hard during the workshop. These ladies were ready to learn and share their knowledge with each other! If you are in Rome Georgia or near there..they have a quilt show with quilts hanging the Library during the month of March. I'm going to try to make a trip to see their quilts in 2010! Thanks so much to the Lavender Ladies for a wonderful day!!

I mentioned on my previous blog that I was joining some sewing buddies in Covington for our semi annual retreat. Four of us delayed the drive (which is about an hour) because of the rain and extreme fatigue.. Sunday night none of us slept because of the thunder and lightening. I thought my house was going to implode it was so severe. I was holding a vibrating dog scared out of her fur. SO... we left on Tuesday morning caravaning down to Covington. Had a great retreat even if it was cut short by one day! I will show you some of the projects I worked on in another blog.

GIVE A WAY TIME......as promised I am celebrating my 150th post. Actually I'm trying to get this give a way off the ground before I have my 200th post !!!! Dang the days just fly by so quickly. So here are the " I LOVE MY BLOG" goodies.

If you are not a blogger..just tell me in your post and I will put your name in twice, just cuz I CAN.(and I luvs you).

HERE IS DAH LIST OF DAH GOODIES.

First Comment! Oh, I'm sure I've been quilting since 1994...maybe 1993...but 15 years at least!!! Happy 150 posts...and we'll definitely be praying that there is no flooding for you all! (Wish the rain could come out west)!

Pat said...

Okay....here I am...waving my hand and hoping I might get picked!!! I can blog about this for tomorrow...even though I hate to encourage too many to enter....because that's less chance for ME to win. hehehe Oh..yes...I've been quilting since about fall of 2005......so that's about 4 years now..although I have sewn for many years (over 45...YIKES). I hope there is no more flooding there. The power of water and the damage it can cause is utterly amazing.

Well, let's see, I started quilting in 1980 when I was pregnant with baby number 3. I was taking a night school course and knew I would miss the last week of the 10 week program. Baby arrived early and I missed the last two classes. What I didn't learn then, I learned by reading magazines and joining a quilt guild. 29 years. BTW, I came because Terry of Terry's Treasures sent me.

Ah, how long I have been quilting--well let's see: I took my first class in 1978 and made sampler quilts. I also learned a lot. Then I actually got away from quilting for a few years in the late 1980's. I came back to quilting full speed ahead in 1990, when my daughter was born and have been quilting ever since. Hi Pat,
Happy 150th post! I sure hope the weather's happy too. Keeping you in my thoughts and hoping for clear skies. I visited Atlanta last fall - beautiful city!

I made my first 'quilt' about 18 years ago, just before I got married. It wasn't a real quilt because I tied it. I still have it but it's ugly and falling apart. The cat sleeps on it now. I started real quilting 9 or so years ago.

Great giveaway. I'm going to blog about it!

Take care,

Hello again, Pat. I'm not sure if I was supposed to come back and tell you that I blogged about your giveaway...

quiltmom said...

Pat,
I don't know how to answer your question because it depends on whether you are asking me the first time I ever made a quilted object or when I began to make bed sized quilts? The first time I ever made pieces for a quilt was about 1975 where I used scissors and template and made a Dresden plate pillow - After that, I made some panel vests and quilted bags and took a couple of classes about making Cathedral Windows and Seminole piecing- But probably the correct answer is that I have seriously quilted since 1996. I took a course that summer and made my own sampler quilt over two summers. I have quilted regularly since that time and made over 50 large queen sized quilts.
What a fun giveaway and you are going to make someone one happy person with your lovely patterns and fabric gifts.
Thank you for your generosity and for some inspiration for today's blog post.
Warmest regards,
Anna

How neat, 250 posts. I just started not quite a year ago so I still have a ways to go. I started quilting in 2001, I think. I never liked sewing but when I started quilting I couldn't stop. Over the years I have become more precise in my techniques and more bold in both my color choices and my design decisions. What I love most about quilting, besides the beautiful quilts I now live with, is the never ending variety. And the wonderful people I have met along the way.

I haven't been quilting too long, about six months or so, but I've been loving it! My mother has been quilting for years and years, so I used to "help" her with projects when I was younger, so I suppose I've always been interested in doing it. In fact, just tonight, I was working on a baby quilt, and the needle on my machine broke, and I don't know how to fix it! It is my mother's old machine and she gave it to me, since she has a new one now. I'll have to call her for instructions :)

Your blog is lovely, I'll be back for sure!

Hello Pat, thankyou for giving us the opportunity to win some yummy things. I first started quilting about 3 years ago after reading Jennifer Chiaverini's first book The Quilter's Apprentice. Needless to say, the scrapbooking I was doing and the crosstitches fast became lost in the background and stashes of fabric! I am officially a stitching addict now. I mainly do handpiecing and quilting and love stitcheries but have done a machine pieced quilt. I have also read most of the Elm Creek books too now LOL. Thanks again

Aye Carumba, 119 comments. How nice for you that so many people like to read your blog. I read often just don't have a lot of comment time....
I have been quilting since 1990. I took a class thru our local night school and did a queen size trip around the world. Nothing like being overly ambitious for a first timer....BUT, my daughter still uses it at 25 yo and won't give it up for anything else I make....
Your prizes are wonderful so I'd love to have them sent here to NJ to me :)

Pat, I was visiting "Marty's Fiber Musings" and learned of your giveaway and here I am.
I've blogged about your Giveaway and really can't decide which of your lovelies I prefer. Any would be wonderful.
I've been quilting regularly since 2000 and enjoy certain aspects more than others with acquiring new fabic at the top of the list.
We, here in Mid-Missouri know the powers of flooding. We experienced it in '93 and '95.
Will think positve thoughts about the weather conditions in your area.
Thanks for the opportunity to find your blog.

although I made my first quilt after inheriting my Momma Newt's sewing machine when she died in 1995... it wasn't until around 2005 that I really consider I began quilting.. as in sewing at least once a week. ;) Now I can't get enough of it! Discovering quilter's message boards and Blogs have helped that a lot!

Thanks for such a fun giveaway! Love from Texas! ~bonnie

Great giveaway!! I like all those nice things you've selected. I'm quilting since 2001, I was 27 years old back then. Finally a quiltshop opened it's doors nearby, and finally I could learn what I wanted for so long. We have quiltshops and exhibitions in Holland, but we can use more quilters here.
