He who does not get fun and enjoyment out of every day...needs to reorganize his life. George Matthew Adams
Martingale Monday #7! Wow the time is flying by and Market is almost here. I have to say I am really looking forward to this Market. I can't wait to see friends that always come by the booth for some fun and to see what is new! My book is making its debut and I will doing some book signings and demos! Most of all I will have dear friends along to share the fun. The grand plan is for the Silver Thimble Gang is to ROCK THE HOUSE!
I want to show you another special quilt from my book. The name of the quilt is "Sunnyside"
Oh how I love thee. This quilt is so cool. The quilt has a teeny secret too. I snuck a tiny bit of non neutral fabric in there. See, there is a gold fabric that appears a couple of times in the quilt. There is a reason for this but you will have to read the book to find out why! (I'm so bad!) Anyway I do like this quilt...a lot. I especially like the setting triangles on the non border...(non border hahaha!)
Also, a $10.00 gift card to iTunes..I would like to keep your feet tapping and humming to the music as you sew. This makes for happy quilts.
I enjoyed your comments so much last week, this week I would love it if you would tell me who, or what inspires you to quilt. Is it a store, a person, the internet, blogs, books (well duh!), magazines, guilds, workshops? What keeps you fired up (my term for inspired) and wanting to make more projects? Tomorrow I will tell you a little secret about what makes me want to create and sew. Put that comment on this blog and get a chance to win!
Winners announced on Thursday morning prior to my hair appointment.

Here is another project. Woven pillow sham. Those strips are not sewn...they are woven. Remember the paper placemats you made in First grade? Well this is the grown up technique. Fun and fast and super cool. Buttons add some extra pizzazzzzzz.
How about some prizes this week. Yup we like that. Three winners again this week.
A signed copy of my book. The signature alone is worth PENNIES!Also, a $10.00 gift card to iTunes..I would like to keep your feet tapping and humming to the music as you sew. This makes for happy quilts.

Books and the internett, seeing what other people had maked is what gives me inspiration. I really looking forward to se your book in my snailmailbox here in Norway.
My original inspiration was a piece of broken pottery. Searching online for the potter, who is also a tatter, I discovered tatters who quilt. I started blog reading and decided to learn to quilt. The internet is wonderful source of "leads." Happy quilting!
I think that my friends are my biggest source of inspiration - they keep me going when I've hit a roadblock and are always showing me their new projects which keep the "wind beneath my sewing wings".
Well, my original inspiration would have to be my mothers craftiness, but she was not a quilter. So, I think that I fount my own way to quilting, The manipulation of the fabric into something completely different. The blogs out there show me something beautiful, and I HAVE to do that! Yep, you beautiful bloggers and your creativity are truly inspirational, and I'm addicted to all of the blogs and the creations you share!!
Quilts shows are my biggest source for inspiration. I'm fortunate to live in an area where I can easily attend some of the major shows, and when I come hame from seeing the quilts and visiting all the vendors, my head is usually swimming with ideas.
Books and blogs inspire me the most these days. Most of my close friends don't quilt. I especially like it when I can preview a book on a blog like what you're doing here!
What gets me fired up? Other quilters passion for quilting! Part of why I love to read your blog, Pat {spreading the butter:)} I am inspired by the stories of the quilters themselves - why they chose the colours, who they made the quilt for, what design kinks they had to work out, etc. I find most of this info from books where you really get a feel for the quilter's voice. There are lots of bloggers who are sharing their stories too. Antique quilts really stoke my fire too!
I have to admit I am often inspired by samples made up at quilt shops or quilt shows. I guess I am pretty visual and when I see something that I like, I usually want to make it the same way. Unfortunately, many times samples are made up with fabrics that are already gone, but I will try to substitute fabrics if possible. Thanks for all the fun blogs and the great giveaway.
I lovely quilt books, but often Iam inspired what others are doing, blogs, friends, quilt shops and quilt shows.
Love the quilt, one of my favorite blocks and the pillow is darling.
I get my inspiration from quilting blogs, magazines, books, fabric shops... nothing holds me back from wanting to create!
It's the fresh new lines of fabric that inspire me the most!
When I see the newest arrivals at the quilt store, I just want to grab them up and make something.
My stash does beckon a little too, "please don't forget me, you loved me once, please make something with me!"
I get inspiration from many sources...magazines, shops, books, friends, quilt shows, the Guild....is it any wonder that I LOVE quilting!! Can't wait to pick up your book and get inspired all over again!!
Take care!
Paulette
The internet (pictures, articles, bloggers, etc., & etc.) keeps me inspired. I also like an occasional magazine or two. It's rare that I purchase one; but, if it has a pattern or article that I really love, I'd buy it.
Thanks for a chance to win.
Quilting is my total relaxation and get away from the hassles of life! Almost everything inspires me. Blogs, Internet, Books, Floors, Ceilings, colors in nature - you name it! It doesn't take much!
The internet is where I get all my inspiration from and other blogs. I see a beautiful quilt and I think I have to make that..then I see another one that I just have to make, then another and...oh you get the picture. I have so many patterns I have downloaded but I doubt I will ever get around to them all. Linda s
HELLO!
I DO WATERCOLORS+DECIDED I'D LIKE TO BE CREATIVE IN FABRIC ART TOO! THUS, QUILTING WAS STARTED+I LOVE DOING IT TOO;ESPECIALLY PATCHWORK!
THANKS FOR SHARING A WONDERFUL BOOK!
What keeps me fired up... I am very visual so it used to be magazines, now it is the blogs I read. Those all give my eyes the input, then my brain churns it all over and I get ideas spilling out my ears. I actually have very few books and tend to not follow patterns to the letter when I do start with one. I would love a copy of your book, of course. I am sorry I missed you at Tiny Stitches this weekend. I had planned to come and then was called away for a family need. Have fun at market.
Most of my inspiration comes from quilt samples and kits from quilt shops. And also other finished quilts I see.
Pat, this quilt is just beautiful - they all are! I can't wait to get my copy of the book!
I get my inspiration from many places - Samples at quilt stores, my friends, Show & Tell at guild meetings, blogs and books. There is so much available online now it's amazing.
My inspiration comes from my blogging friends, magazines, books and I really love tutorials on blogs. Thanks very much.
Books, and friends, also quilts in shops, so many quilts, so little time. Would love to add your book for more inspiration.
I receive most of my inspiration from friends' blogs on the internet. I used to be a member of a quilt guild before we moved west, and could always get inspiration there! Your blog is a new bit of inspiration for me--thanks!
My family is at the heart of my inspiration. I just really want to leave them a tangible, creative piece of me as a legacy. I've had a recent breast cancer scare and while I'm in the category of "survivor", there is good reason I might not be a "survivor" for as long as I would have been without ever having had breast cancer. I feel a sense of urgency to make legacy quilts for my family and friends.
My original inspiration was my mom, she was an amazing seamstress, but never made a quilt. Now days ... I quilt with 4 different groups, 5 times a month. WE all keep each other inspired, sometimes I lead, sometimes I follow (hmmmmmm seems like a song I know). And I read blogs, daily and each evening. An avid reader. Your book is inspiring me to use some neutrals up that have been sitting on my shelf. So ... yes ... pick me, pick me :)
I think I take inspiration from all kinds of places, books, internet, quilting shops and more recently blogs!
Inspiration comes from every where! When I first started, my inspiration was that I wanted a quilt on every bed. ;-) Thanks for the wonderful chance again~ I am so hoping!! Have a happy week!
My quilting friends seem to be my source of inspiration. When we get together and share our projects, I'm inspired to create :) Seeing quilts and fabric inspires me.
Well, I think that my friends inspire me to keep going on projects that I want to "put in a box"....I see them working on an old project and think I should be finishing up some...so I do. But I do add a few more to the pile when finishing old ones...lol. Kristie
As you know, quilting is my therapy. I am inspired by all my fellow Thimblettes and of course....dah......the Queen of Thimbles. She will however, continue to have a hard time getting me to do and like heinous applique. It aint gonna happen!!!! Can't wait for the weekend
I want to win your book SSSSSSSOOOOOO Bad!!! I love neutrals. If I can't win it, I just might have to order it.
The internet, mainly reading blog pages like yours. I'm in Austraila & prior to the internet it felt we were on another planet. Quilting trends, magazines, patterns & fabrics seemed to take forever to get here. Now I can order from the US & most of the time whet I've ordered is here within a week !
Making things for people is what keeps me inspired. I love to make things for my grandchildren, and for my friends. I'm also highly inspired by show and tell at my quilt guilds, and I love to read blogs, and try tutorials. Oh, and I read quilt books and patterns as if they are mystery novels--I just can't wait to see what happens next in the pattern!
My grandchildren make me want to quilt, antique quilts make me want to quilt and blogs when I see all the inspiring quilts you all make.
Fabric make me want to quilt.
Thanks for the giveaway. My mother inspires me - at 80 she is still the little energizer bunny - on top of everything else she did today, she pinned and sewed all the binding on a kingsized quilt AND is already handsewing it down. We live in a rural area so the colors of nature inspire me too.
All kinds of things inspire me...the gorgeous fall weather and colors, pumpkin and fall displays, blogs and the internet, wonderful books. I can waste time, sorry, I mean be absorbed for hours on the internet looking at all the beautiful quilts and projects!
I love your book and the quilts I have seen so far. Talk about inspiring!
Bari
I don't need to win - I have this wonderful book, it came today! Yaaay. I even found a little graphic that I want to copy and stick to my sewing table.
Congrats to whoever wins - you will love this book.
I'm not so much inspired by any one thing, it's just that I have to quilt! Something inside me makes me do it.
I'm mostly inspired by what I see on the many wonderful quilting blogs I follow! Which also lead me to lots of wonderful books (like yours!) Thanks for another chance to win it! :0)
Inspiration for quilting is everywhere you look. Blogs are a wonderful source, but it's fun to go to quilt shows and festivals to get inspired as well. So many projects!!
I am inspired by the internet! Pinterest is an awesome source!
I am inspired by, magazines, blogs and I love spending hours in the fabric shop. I would love to make the quilts in your book. Thank you so much for the opportunity.
Books and blogs in the main!
I have jumped into the blog world only recently and my quilting inspiration has sky-rocketed, so I would say quilting blogs is what keeps me fired up. I love it! And I really want to win this awesome prize!
My inspiration comes in many forms....but I have to keep music or the TV on to help me stay focused....HA@@
By the way, you won a card of buttons over at Button mad....need your address...whohoooo
I am insprired by the world around me...and that includes the internet, books, television, guilds, shows, friends, enemies...etc....I love learning new techniques and how to put a new twist on an old pattern...WooHoo bring on the neutrals!
My nieces and nephews came today and spent about 12 hours at my house. They went through my fabric and wanted to pull out tubs from under beds and in closets and say, "Is this one finished yet? Oh, this one is so soft... " They really inspired me to finish something so they can take it home with them next time! My nephew picked out some scraps and insisted I whip him up a sleeping bag for his GI JOE man right then before he left. He and his sisters watched as I sewed and it amazed me how the conversation just flowed. THey started asking about their daddy when he was little and if he bugged me like their sister or brother does and all kinds of things. We both got a chuckle out of it as we eyed each other over their little questions and attentiveness. They all want me to teach them to sew one day and left with order placed for American Girl Doll clothes, a sleeping bag for himself....
Friday is a retreat with friends, that is inspiring too! :) I think that the love of family and how it can be such an appreciative gift to them when you make them something is the best.
Books are my main inspiration, but I'm often inspired to buy them after seeing projects on other quilters' blogs :o). I also get inspired by projects the ladies in my local groups are working on.
Beautiful fabric insides me!
