Ellijay Quilts

Life is the art of drawing without an eraser.
-John Gardner
The house is quiet..Monday morning. I have been out of the house and on the go for the past 4 days so I'm diggin the quiet! I'm such a people person..but I'm also a person who loves the quiet solitude of home. I'm a super homebody. Sewing today, finished my 180 5.75" log cabin blocks so there is a lot of squaring up to be done.

Here are some of the quilts from Ellijay 2011. Thanks for the memories, I think back on this fabulous retreat everyday and my heart smiles. Ellijay 2012 will be here before we know it.

A friend will know you in the first minute they see you, than your acquaintance will in a thousand years.

Catching up on events...first.... my day with Pat and Gene. (Gene got the better photo of us so I stole it from his blog...Thanks Gene.) Several months ago Pat contacted Gene from Alabama and me saying she would be in the Atlanta area in February. We set a date to meet and the plans were ON! I picked them up at a mall parking lot and took them on a little shop hoppie for the day. WHAT FUN!

We went to A Scarlet Thread, Little Quilts and Tiny Stitches. Holey shopping fun. Pat had never had good Southern Barbeque so we went to eat a Willamson Bro. and she got a pulled pork sandwich....we explained about sweet tea in the south and pulled pork vs sliced. She also got an explanation about the Southern phrase "Bless Her Heart" and what that actually implies...For those who do not know, this phrase usually follows an insult...like "She sure has put on weight...BLESS HER HEART ." Pat was crackin up. She got a full dose of the South yes sirreee.

The funny part of this whole day is that we all jumped in my car and started chattin it up like we had known each other for decades. The whole day flew by and I simply can't wait till we can do it again. I love Gene and Pat more than I love my self cleaning oven!

Pat arrived at my car with this huge box!

Pat certainly knows what blows my skirt up. Anyone who looks like that should step away from the Cheetos.

Ellijay part 1

Unless each day can be looked back upon by an individual as one in which he has had some fun, some joy, some real satisfaction, that day is a loss.

Well! While being totally absent from my precious little blog, I have been having more than enough fun. No day has been lost...(see above quote). I have so much to blog about. I'm back and promise to catch up with all that has gone on the past two weeks. I got home about 6 o'clock last night from four glorious days at the retreat I host in the North Georgia Mountains in Ellijay. When I tell you the retreat was a success it is an understatement of huge proportions. There was quilts o'plenty for sure but you know I will always talk about the people/friends/relationships first. Here is the evidence of the fun.

Sewing and Cheetos...yup it is a very good thing.
The view of our universe. The chair is sitting next to my "office". I hold regular private counseling sessions there!

Left Right Center game..can you begin to feel the fun?

Leisa I wish you could hear her laughing..in her binding skirt

Karin in her newly invented Ott Headlight. She is getting ready for applique for sure.

We love it when the quilt store comes to us on the mountain! Mary Ellen shrink wrapped Little Quilts and brought it to us...major shopping ensued.
Roll those dice BJ. my design partner was rolling for nine patches. (note to BJ..we finished Comfort & Joy those nine patches are the wrong color way for our new project!)

Karin again stopping by the sewing station for some counseling. Hhahahaa. Note her attire and the sun coming through the windows...yes we sew in our PJ's (for days on end!)

The class picture. Our eyes were burning out of our heads. Facing right into the sun.

Jane rolling those dice. She is a big shot hospital personage. This photo is blackmail.

Look at them. Who knew we would get into so much competition for some red and green nine patches.

I love this...I swear I do. Look at Becky falling over with laughter.

And my favorite photo of all...it just says it all.

Paula said the nicest thing to me. "  Have you ever  looked around this room and realized what you have created?"    My answer is "Yes, but I'm the one who is lucky and sooo blessed".

Tomorrow quilts and my day with Gene and Pat

I'm late I'm late for a very important date!!!

I'm not really late..I'm just late and have not had two minutes to post a blog. I'm leaving in about an hour for my annual COME AWAY WITH ME retreat in the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. Yes I have rented the whole joint.  Sewing in our pj's laughing and playing games.....We are going to have a sewing good time.

I have my new ipad and will attempt to blog from the retreat. I have never loaded photos and all that junk so we will see how I do.

The forecast is for snow so hopefully it won't stick and everyone can get up on that mountain and relax by 1 o'clock tomorrow. If I have to cancel I will be sitting alone in a gigantic lodge eating cheetos and vats of spaghetti pie. Then I will jump of the mountain or in the frozen pool below.

So much to tell you all I promise to blog one way or another. Stay tuned. Don't cha wish you were with us???
